This is a winter thing. Or is it? Making pizza on the grill! It works with whole wheat crust, since it’s dense. My crust recipe is slightly sweetened with honey and has Italian seasoning. I’ve perfected it over the year.
1.5 cup of warm water (use too hot and you’ll kill the yeast, too cold-the yeast won’t flourish)
Packet of yeast
2 tablespoons of honey
Let stand till foamy, 20 minutes or so, see photo
Add 3.5 cups of whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Italian seasoning
Cover with wet towel and let rise. I have under cabinet lights. I turn them on to give a little warmth. Let dough double in size.
Roll out dough. This is harder than regular white dough you’ll need flour, patience, and the ability to live with an uneven octagon of a pizza. Just think of it as hand-crafted – Dominos pizzas are perfectly round.
Precook the crust (at 500 degrees, if you’re in the oven) for 5 minutes. Then add toppings and cook for 15 minutes at 425.
